I've got an old S'G' in about the same condition. Finish looks original to me with evidence of rusting and attempts at removal. The stock looks like it has some serious problems - maybe a crack almost the full length on the RH side? It looks like it still has the original 22 coil hammer spring and very likely the original dogleg. It almost looks like the stock has the later band shadow, but probably just from being taken down and put back together a lot of times. It could be a "put together," but I think more likely just a well used and abused old carbine that has seen a lot of use and some "polishing up" sometime in it's past. I think the value is maybe $1000 - $1200 US - would be more if it had better metal condition and wood. If you've had it that long, maybe you should just hang on to it! - Bob

All you US citizens need to stop filling his head with sugar plums. Here in Canada, the collector's market isn't what you have in the US. This little gem is restricted so many don't want to bother. The mags have to be blocked to 5 rds too. Also ammo cost's a fortune and MOST around here don't seem to reload. I agree that $200 is low, but the gunshop will only probably sell for around $600. That's a fact. Any more and they'll be sitting on it for ages. He can sell it on line on CanadianGunNutz and maybe do a bit better, but it's hard to say.

Oops, you're right, it has been cut down. Well, so much for the original carbine.

He could sell the Barrel band/swivel for near $200.

Not up here he can't Charlie. I think if he tried to send it across the border, it might be considered war material by the state dept.

When I saw the stake marks to the right
I thought that Carl the Corrector had been at work, why would the original flip be that far off? It would be nice to see the left side of the receiver near where the barrel starts and see if the finish is original.

My guess is a previous owner got tired of holding to the left to hit what he was aiming at - so took a hammer and punch to it. - Bob

In No Way A Suggestion..........
3-21-07
I bought a complete WRA Type II Trigger Housing from a seller in Quebec, offered on GunBroker.
Housing had Doglegg hammer, "EW" push safety, Long tab magcatch.... etc. It was all correct.
Purchase price was $125.00 but don't recall the shipping cost or price of the International USPS MO.
I didn't need anything from this purchase, thus I stripped it and sold/swapped the parts here in the US.
Bought and sold to show the wife a profit can be made at times, that this was not just a spending hobby.
Those parts sold high, due to the CMP releases at the time.
I recall joking with him about out Detroit Redwings and him missing being able to chant out "Go Havs".
Package was sent airmail.
We made other "Off the auction site deals", all parts sent out of Quebec, CA all via Air mail.
On a few occassions misc household/ plumbing or mechanical hardware was included in with my purchases.
A WRA barrel came wrapped inside a tent pole, or piece of electrical conduit, among a few other poles.
Nothing I received would have been anything I'd of had to register here.
I'm not advising this, but showing that it is done.
I still see the seller on GB.
FWIW,

P.S. Many of you that know of the wood collections I have, know they came down from the West coast of Ca to Wash state.
