Removing bayonet lug
On a RC 98k Mauser I need to remove the bayonet lug. The cleaning rod looks to have been broken off about 1/4 inch into the housing of the lug and to get it out I must remove the lug. I am having quite a time driving out the pin which I believe should come out quite easily if not cut for the cleaning rod. Can someone verify if the lug retaining pin is cut for the cleaning rod? Are they just difficult to remove? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, John McP

It should drive out. try a soaking in penetrating for a few days and using a flat tip punch the same size as the pin.

Do as Detmer suggests.
The bayonet lug pin is a plain steel straight pin, no cuts, reliefs, etc.
The pin should not be difficult to drive out, yours might be swollen with rust.
