M48A - New Addition w/Non-Marching Floor Plate
I just picked up another Yugo M48A Mauser on Tuesday 1/7/2020. It was one of those deals that I could not say no to, $300.00 might be a bit high someplace else but is well below California prices.
The only issue I have with this rifle, and the only part not serial number matching, is the trigger guard. I looks as though a prior owner for some reason replace the original stamped steel trigger guard and floor plate with a milled version of some sort that sits much lower in the inlet than any of my other M48's or M48A's. So it looks as though I will be looking for the correct trigger guard and floor plate.
I had range duty Friday so I cleaned it up a little the night before to the range with me. I came with 10 rounds of Remington 170 Gn Core-Lokt. I've never used this type of ammunition before so don't have any idea of how accurate it is.
With my old eye looking through the Irons at 100 yards at a fuzzy black blob; I was able to print a 5 shot group od 4.75" (120.65mm) Center to Center) if you remove the outside hole, which was totally me not the rifle, it grouped 3.20" (81.11mm) Center to Center.
Overall, I'm happy with this rifle and want to see what it can do with some handloads.

My first milsurp was a M48... Solid and accurate rifles. Just a great shooter all around. It does always leave me wishing the stock was more svelte like the K98 tho.

All three 48's that I have owned are great shooters. I really love the rifle which is why I can't pass one up when the price is right. I want the next one to be a Bubba-Up'ed one so that I can work on one where I won't mess with the value. I'd like to see what I can do with it.
