Everything looks good except the serial stamped into the gas cylinder... have never seen that before, and I've seen hundreds. Who would do that and why?

Yes, never seen one like that. Maybe it was for reading in the rack. Can't imagine otherwise.

I took lots of good detail pictures of all of the marks on mine. I posted this 7 years ago.

Brit Proof Rifles
The Featured Rifle in the latest GCA Journal is SA325910, a minty original that is NOT Brit proofed... that's a scarce bird. The article includes a table of three surrounding guns that ARE BPs, pretty interesting parts comparison. All 1941 rifles, of course, with barrel dates of 7-41, 8-41, 9-41 (the FR), and 10-41.

Uh oh... Rick doesn't like the cartouche on the Featured Rifle, which casts suspicion on the whole piece. I should have been more critical... embarrassing

Lets let others see if they can see the differences. To me they are very easy to see on this one. Rick B

The top one isn't even close. The flame only has three sections, the cannon muzzles are too square, the cannon balls are the wrong size, the buckle is way off, the G and S are too skinny and the H is too wide. The periods are the wrong size and placement, the S is too skinny, the crossbar on the A is too high and the shape of the cannons is wrong too. That's about all I can see wrong with the top one.
