Mauser K98
Hell Everyone!,
I have a good condition 1941 Portuguese contract Mauser K98. This is one of the batch kept by the German Army for combat use.
It has all matching numbers, and German Eagles. It also comes with a correct (but not matching) bayonet
I have a rough idea on value, but have been given some really different figures!
I would appreciate the advice of those of you who are far more experienced on these rifles than me.
Thank you.

That's lovely, with really crisp stampings.
These are getting sort after, especially a German issue, and with matching numbers.
I've seen similar in similar condition being advertised in the US$2000+ range.
Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.

I had one of those when they first came into Canada, they were imported new in the grease in paper. The cleaning kits and bayonets came with, numbers on the bayonet matched. We paid $300 each for them at the time. That was about 1980...maybe 1979. Imagine, that rifle was new and someone failed in their job of care. They were perfect, I had the job of unwrapping and cleaning for a gunshop here. I chose one sight unseen still wrapped.

You must be a person of infinite patience! For me, leaving that rifle still wrapped would be like leaving my Christmas presents unopened!

Truth here, I was degreasing them all and said, "I'll take that one". Sight unseen until I got home and cleaned it. I never fired it and ended up trading it for a Colt Commander steel frame, 9mm. I traded that for all my RCBS reloading gear which has saved me thousands in ammo cost.
