Maybe this may help about information on Russian Mosins.

A great loss of the most important person in your life, stay strong. You husband may have keep a record book of all guns and what he paid, maybe he wrote on the rifle ID tags what each rifle is ? Most of us old timers kept inventory books and put ID tags on the rifles. He may have had a C&R book with purchase info. Prices on most firearms have about doubled or more in the last few years. Do not be in a hurry. If you wonder or need information you can post pictures on any of the three main forums and get ideas from the experts about rarity & value. It is always best if his family members, then local friends & neighbors are a consideration when it comes time to down sizing the collection. This forum, gun boards and SRF can help ID and provide a value range or suggestion on almost any firearm. Parts and ammo are also way up in value . Some like reference books- please do not dump firearm books at Goodwill- most are very desirable & retain their value. Second items are bayonets- also way up in price.

Since open heart surgery then a later stroke my days are numbered and I have been tagging bayonets and rifles so my wife knows what goes where and I maintained an inventory book with info. Most of my stuff has names on who it should go to free- mostly Menominee friends and former students that have no cash but will treasure things. Most members on this forum will be glad to help out with any info needed. I am also 72usmc on surplusrifleforum.org.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much!! I do have a bound book, I was a 03 licensee for many years, but again, just for his convenience, LO>. He was the expert. As for cataloging them, if you had any idea how many times over the years I asked him that, said we could make a joint project, I would do all the pics, write all the notes, but he just knew all that in his head, in an uncanny way, so no, I know for sure it was never done. I do have a chronioogical book of purchases, as well as the bound book, so I figure I can determine a lot of that. I plan to tag them, make sure I have all the years/cartouches figured out, which are matching, which arent, at least none of his are bubbatized that I know of. I will look at the documents you referenced and i thoroughly appreciate them. He had a fondness for the finnish SA marked, i am not wanting to do anything quite yet, other than do some research, way too many other thing to do, but I also do not need multiple duplicates, so need to determine which is best to hang on to. My go to shooter was a Swissicon K-31, I love that thing!!! I may know maybe 5% of what he knew, but trust me, I did ALL the purchasing paperwork, whether under his name or mine, there is not a chance in hell they will be turned into Goodwill, in fact that made me laugh, so thank you for that, I need a laugh But mostly thank you for the info. It will be a while, I have SOO much to do, my kids made it home in time, but finally had to leave yesterday, and I really have to go back to work, as my household income just sort of decreased by about 60%, but I am strong if nothing else, and may not have all the knowledge he did, i was still a part of it for soo many years, I hope I know enough to at least not do anything stupid and I always do my homework. It may be months down the road, but will ultimately have a list of items I am willing to part with.
