There is a Forgotten Weapons video on the single shots from Ethiopia. Maybe yours is related to them.

Good Morning,
That is a great series and I did see the one on the Beaumonts from Ethiopia. From what I have researched, mine would be the next model following the removal of the safety that had the addition of the external piece put on to cover the holes.
I have an 1871/1879.
Thanks,
Randy

From Gunboards:
M71 single shot and original sight
M71/79 single shot with modified safety and new sight for the new cartridge
M71/79 single shot with removed safety and new sight (mine)
M71/88 with 4-round Vitali box magazine, with of course the sight for the new cartridge
There was also a M73 single shot Navy rifle that used a sword bayonet, a similar colonial rifle that was browned, a variety of cadet rifles modified to .22 caliber, and a somewhat rare KNIL police carbine.

Very neat rifles. I inherited a nice in the white Vitali conversion. It's a very early import that somehow avoided sporterization. Interestingly enough, not numbers matching. The bolt and rear sight match the receiver, but the barrel is 9 numbers off and matches the buttplate. The barrel is marked 1894, and the butt is marked 1892. I never fully figured that out.
However, It got me started with collecting. I had always thought the old world style of the trigger guard, magazine, and bands was my favorite part. I have always wanted to shoot it, but I hesitated the last time I saw cartridges on buffalo arms and have never seen them listed again. I need to learn how to fire form and reload.

Good Morning. Buffalo Arms has Bertram Brass and CH4D dies available. Both are not cheap but you will amortize costs as you reload those cases. I found my cases on Gunbroker where some loaded ammunition for the Beaumont was for sale. At $4/case, antique arms collecting can be expensive and more so if you consider those dies at $275+.
With all this said, nothing like making smoke in the morning! Randy
