I acquire this rusted and pitted Magazine that has holes rusted through it in several places. But I noticed the follower and spring were in pretty good condition, as well as the feed lips still being “mostly” there. I thought what the heck.
Today I will take it to the range to give it a good testing.

A buddy of mine found a G43 locally several years ago. It had 4 extra magazines, in pouches, with it. By the time I bought the rifle from him a few years later, he'd already lost the extra magazines.
Well…I understand this story about my old, rusty and pitted Relic magazine isn’t all that interesting to most but I am just tickled that I was able to get an original G43 magazine, that even in such bad shape, still functions fine and I got it dirt cheep.
Thanks. I’m still trying to “restore” mine into original configuration, swapping repro parts for originals as they become available. I just finally got the correct repro laminated wood stock from Poland.
Went to the range today to test more loads and the “Zombie Mag” ran like a champ!

It's interesting but there are only a limited number of things that can be said about it. Obviously in this instance the ground and environmental conditions appear to have been favourable resulting in the magazine surviving relatively intact.

Better stuff is found in swamps and bogs than bunkers.
