Since 2001, I ordered 3 Winchesters from the CMPicon, all service grades. None of them ended up being worth what I paid for them. But that was back when you at least had a small chance of getting a Winchester Barrel and/or a collector/cartouched stock... which made it sort of like a fun lottery with no real negatives(I still got nice looking rifles with great shooter barrels)

It will sell, there's always a market for CMP Winchesters, but as far as the question of worth goes, I think whoever buys one nowadays knows up front that he or she is definitely getting only the Winchester receiver with an unmarked/rebuild birch or walnut stock... so obviously in that person's mind, it's still worth the money they pay.

You can get lucky; I got an original finish, pre-war receiver and win stock on the last bunch of RG's they had. Was also very dirty and dinged up.

Since you know up front it's probably only going to be a Winchester receiver it's worth the price. There's some mystique about weapons with the Winchester name on it. I can take several M1icon Garands to the gun club for shooting and show and tell and if there is a Winchester in the group that's the rifel everyone wants to shoot. At least you'll have a Winchester receiver which provides a foundation if you want to collect the right parts and make a correct Winchester. They're not getting any younger and they're not making any new ones. If you think 695 is expensive wait until they're banned or ask what the value will be in 10 years.
