has different slide type then one would expect, type one or 2???? never seen IP slide of that type, Ruth says possible in his book, be intersting to see what carbine club has found on use of type one or two marked IP slides, I don't see any fakery on any of parts other then the oddity of the slide being different, but I miss stuff too

I find the double punch marks on the receiver and bolt to be of interest.

It had to be a pretty hardy cleaning of the stock to remove those markings like that.
I see it's a member here that has bid on it.
I hope it works out for the best.

It's been steel wool'd and has had what looks to be a few coats of linspeed oil rubbed on. That is typical of what a novice would do back then. That said how many are out there in this condition? I probably will bid on it......I may never have another chance to own one. Please talk me out of this. Regards, Rick.

Thinking your Wife would have a better chance of talking you out of it.
How about a nicely remodeled kitchen...
I tried......
Good Luck,

I've never seen an IP slide before, but the marking inside the box sure stands out compared to that on the S'G's. I wonder what number is stamped on the side of the front sight? Should that trigger have the notches on the back, or is that only on the S'G's?

Thanks all! This is what I was seeing:
Listed by picture number:
4) scratch on bbl, down middle but parallel to barrel edges
5) mark on stock does not carry over to handguard
6) and 12) compare how trigger house sits in stock to shadow on trigger guard
7) and 8) dents in stock have sharp edges indicating sanding
9) spot on butt plate not carry to stock
19) leaf fine, is base?
Problem is these are pictures and not in front of me. We know we all want it, many parts are so beautiful. I might see things that are not there, too picky, etc!

Rokwell, thanks for the great post. I'll reserve my opinion untill I can give the mattter some more thought and compare some photos, but in the interim, take care. I'm not happy it is correct.
Marcus, I agree with you about the slide, especiallly the stamp in the box.
David, a great observation ! I think the mark in front of the punchmark on the bolt, may be the top half of the crown applied on Brit proofed Carbines. Refer Martys article on Brit Proofs in the Newsletter.
Will give it some thought overnight. Mike.

I think the stock and hand guard have been lightly sanded and re-oiled -- the surfaces look too smooth and pretty for an in-service carbine. It is a very handsome gun, however.
