My 1st Carbine
New to the M1 carbine just picked up this nice IBM produced I believe in 1944. definitely a post war rebuild has a Winchester barrel. Has AO stamped on receiver heel. I read this was a receiver made by Auto Ordnance. Any other info anyone might know ould be appreciated.

I like it! Congratulations! I have a 3.8M IBM and it's the most accurate of the carbines I've fired. Looks like you have the right trigger housing, too. What is the marking on your front barrel band? - Bob

Hi Bob,
That band looks to be a Circled A or Circled something ?
I've never seen a Type II band with a Circle. Have seen the Triangled one.
I believe this one is a Circled A like found on the Type III Bayo bands.
Very possible this one is a T3 cut down to a T2.
Gotta say that's one Beautiful stock.........

That stock had a first block Rock-Ola in it at one time.
Was it the Italians or Israelis that marked the serial number on the stock like that ?
I can't remember........
Metal finish is very nice also.
Shoot it yet ?
Cheers,

My IBM's stock is marked like that - an Israeli import from C.A.I. The barrel on this one might have been changed due to the import mark. His hand guard appears to be a late Inland 4 rivet. The receiver finish looks just like mine, and my barrel looks the same. It might be something done while in Israel? - Bob

I would imagine his barrel band is a cut down T3 to T2 as he lives in the state of NY where, as we all know, a bayonet lug is a weapon of mass destruction. Serial number on stock is indeed a sign that the stock was used in Israel.

Thx Cali,
It's hard to keep up with these State by State Regs.

Yes the bayonet lug transforms this gun into a scary assault weapon in this State. Also having 15 round magazine makes you a felon as well, not easy finding 10 rounders that work well.
