Thanks Maccaman, that is probably a Mid January 43 gun.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Have you any photos? The serial number would be a last stage intermediate gun.

I make the F-90-- into the 9050 range as being the last of the true intermediates BP.

I've seen F9140 with the fluted gas ports, Kev G has the earliest true Mk1 Ptn A that I know of (F9497).

Maybe it's time to mate up our lists again BP!

Just looked and it seems that I have a F 76xx as a true Mk1A. So there is a cross-over/criss contamination at the final changeover period. This isn't totally unusual as it seems to have occurred at a other points too. I put it down to multiple production lines, rectfication etc etc.

We need to ask SBK this question. Does your gun have longitudinally fluted ribs around the gas cylinder OR does it have a simple slab sided gas cylinder
