Like most of you my interests vary- right now my favorites are refurbishing and maybe just occasional target shooting of the weapons who's care I'm fortunate enough to have been entrusted. We are after all only curators of pieces of history.

I'm here at Rick the Librarian's invitation to get info on my m1903 Austrian sporter. I am not a collector but have been a shooter from a very young age. I do enjoy learning about these great American rifles and the people who collect them. Looking forward to going to school here.

Hello to everyone, I am a long time advocate and admirer of the shooting sports, although not much of a collector. My favorite firearms are the M1 rifle and .45 acp pistol, so you see I am old school. I purchased a Springfield Armory M1 back in the 80's and finally bought Mr. Duff's data book to see if I had a re-weld. So here I am and hopefully I won't ask too many newby questions about re-habing an M1.

I have collected WWII rifles and pistols since 1994. I reload and fire all my weapons and found this site during my pursuit of knowledge of load for and collecting of these weapons. I am very excited about the knowledge found here and the interest of others in this area.

Hi all. I am a new member. I bought a service grade HRA M1 Garand and a salvage grade M1917 Enfield at the CMP north store in March 09. I have been interested in military history all of my life. The recent change in our government and probable attacks on the 2nd amendment motivated me to finally buy these great rifles. I have put about 120 rds through the M1 but am having a gunsmith check out my M1917 before I can play with it. This forum looks like a great source of information, especially on the M1917.

New member, came over from Culver Shooting page, collect garands mostly, but have others such as K98k, Model 1917 Eddystone, M1 carbines, 03s, 03A3s, look forward to new information from new people.

hi everybody,
i am new here and new to collecting mil surplus. a local retailer went out of business and i bought two C.A.I. Enfields. one seems to be a Savage and the other i am having trouble identifying. i will try an post pics as soon as i can.
the receiver has MK406322 (made up of little dots), on the stock near the trigger guard has SL, theh underneath N (or IV?), then 74, then big upside down V, then a star, then a small crown? and M 52. the n a little further down what looks like another crown on top of 7K? the magazine has a boxed S. the "safety" has a B, the bolt head has a 0, and what looks like crossed swords, and maybe an F off to the side. the receiver has the same crossed swords opposite the "safety". on the muzzle end there is SM on the nailed on band. the front site has 045 FY, the muzzle has C.A.I. GEORGIA vt .303 ENGLAND. on the grip band below the safety is EA2576....whew...i think that's it for now.

I was a regular here a few years back and got very busy with other things, looking forward to having the time to enjoy reading up on all the past post and see just what I have been missing. I live deep in the backwoods of East Texas just a few miles from where I grew up as a boy. My people came to Texas in the 1820's from Mississippi, Georgia & Tennesee. Our familly made there living off the land. We hunted wild hogs, deer, rabbits, squirrel & whatever was available. If the economy goes south like it looks like it may, I will just pick up where I left off as a boy. We still have lots of all kinds of wild life. About a week ago my wife and her dad were out checking on our cows when she saw a black panther stalking one of our newborn calves, when the cat spotted my wife in a moment it was gone. I am thinking of a way to trap it. Its not likly that it will let itself be seen again in daylight. My passion is M14 type rifles I have built a couple from USGI parts and LRB receivers, Lou is doing a great job as are the other M1A makers. What I like about Lou's M25 is the scope mount being a part of the receiver, its takes some weight off and make for an accurate rifle. I also have an Springfield Armory M25 White Feather which make a great brench rifle but its too heavy to hunt deer with unless you are in a deer stand with a good rest to shoot from. Not much more that I can say for now except for God Bless our Country and let,s all pray for it and our service men & women that keep us safe. We have a duty to leave a better America for our children and grand children than the America that we grew up in!

Howdy folks...just registered in and glade to be a small part of milsurp forum. As you might have guested, I am from here in Texas. 25-year Military Retiree, all of which was spent in the Military Police corp. I am trying to locate a few items,...maybe somebody can point me in the right direction. Trying to find 12 gauge all brass, loaded shells, and bayonet for Winchester 97 trench gun. Thanks Rusty
