Hillbilly, I'll be praying for you and your family. I know how difficult dealing with diabetes can be. I hope the doctors will soon get the situation under control.

One of my best friends has it, complicated by the fact that he also is allergic to insulin and the doctor does not "believe in" an insulin allergy. He is treating it now with herbal medicines and the worst of the ulcers are clearing up, so he might keep his legs.

There are 3 Indian reservations within a few miles of here and they are very susceptible to this horrible disease. Everyone knows folks who have it or folks who had it.

    Sincere prayers offered.

I have a minute to give an update on my Dad. He was admitted to the Hospitol the Day of my original Post, He isn't doing well but hanging in there. They cant get his blood sugar under 300, and he's still not easy to understand. He don't make good sence when you talk to him sometimes. He rants and raves about a lot of stuff, and that just isn't him at all. He's not like that.
They are supposed to bring in a team of doctors to look at him now, having said he is a special case, and they would like to run a lot more tests to see whats wrong and how to fix him. He won't be coming home anytime soon, which will make it hard on all of us, but not impossible to get through. The neurosurgeon that was looking after him this weekend had tested him for mini-strokes, amoung other things, but believes those test to come back O.K. They also believe its his Medications, a bunch of them, that are causing reactions/interactions/problems with him. Thats what they say they need to really work on, is getting some of those meds changed and or re-evaluated to better control whats going on with him. He just isn't himself, and it is difficult to talk to him. sometimes he acts like you just walked into the room, when you been there all day, other times its like, i cant spell this one good... skitzophrenia? and then other times hes extremely agitated.
I really thank you all for your prayers, it really made me feel great to see them. I got a lot to do, and a lot on my mind, so I must get going, and thank you all... I will try to update his condtion as things go forward.... HILLBILLY-06.

Your situation sounds exactly like the one my father faced, diabetes control complicated by multiple medications. Hang in there and know there are many here who are holding your father up in prayer.

Hillbilly, all the best wishes for your father and prayers are forthcoming. Many times the mix of meds can cause that very thing and causes some very strange behavior which defies understanding. My mother went through similar behavior while hospitalized once, and it's hard to understand why the professionals aren't more attuned to the signs. RT

    Pop came home today

Well, they never did find any one thing wrong with him, but he's better now, and home today. His potassium and magnesium was really low, they say that's most likely what made him seem out of his mind, or in another world all together. They fixed that, and his blood pressure was slightly elevated, they fixed that, his blood sugar is still slightly up from the norm, but we're working on it. He had one siezure while he was in thwe hospitol, his first ever, but no others since. He's temporarily on meds for that. He has vertigo now, and has meds for that, he's still off balance and slightly weak still, but home with us now. He has had headaches and neck pain a lot lately, they didn't ever find anything wrong there, despite the dozens of tests they ran him through while he was there.
I had to stay out of work the past three weeks myself to take care of my nephews, long story there, but I did it, and the house work, the laundry, the meals, the home work, take them to school, pick them up, fed them, bathed them, and on and on. Anyhow, I'm Glad mom and dad are home again... Hurray for everyone... I still pick up kids today, mom gone to pharmacey... Thanks everyone for your support and your prayers, it made me feel real good, and helped get me through it all, during my time here, while dad was sick and away.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you................... HILLBILLY-06.
