it looks like you have got the real deal. In my personal opinion, I would restore the rifle to its original issue condition - or as close as practical. I base this on the fact that the rifle is a rare one and a restoration would be a "labor of love" - it will take time but could be done.

Besides the front sight protector, I think the cocking handle is a later war version replacement, plus the sight stamped "F" is Fazakerley?
Is the barrel serial numbered and marked '41?

Badger: The barrel is serial numbered (to match the receiver) and '41 dated. The stampings on the barrel are just like the ones in the photos of the 0L6062 that you posted earlier (i.e., it has all the same stampings in the same locations).
