Next question, did the brits use the PVS 1 on the L42A1?
It looks very similar to the IWS but is clearly different.

No. Because the PVS has the zeroing in the bracket while the IIW has it in the tube. You could put the PVS onto the L42 bracket but you wouldn't be able to zero it

Looking at the IIW (SS20) pics, where are the windage and elevation controls located? No conventional knobs that I can see except for the focus(?) adjusting knob on the forward left side. Unfortunately, the resolution on this work 'puter ain't the best!

Will a PVS-2 fit and lock solid on a Britishicon IWS mount?
I have borrowed an Aussie PVS-2 mount but im going to have to give it back so need to find my own one somhow...somwhere.
Anyone want to part with one? I can give it a good home in New Zealandicon!

    The simple answer is NO.

The long answer is no; unless you modify either the Britishicon IWS mount or the PVS2 sight bracket, either of which is an expensive option for some rare parts.

Thanks Kevin, im not going to modify anything so ill have to turn up an Aussie/NZicon type PVS mount from somwhere or have one made.

Weve met before years ago, I got a SUIT mount off you and you got a Canadianicon parade bayonet off me once upon a time.

Dont have a spare mount by any chance?

Exactly WHAT mount are you after. Is it the adjustable mount that interfaces between the L1A1 IIW cover and the US PVS-2 sight.

Is it the mount shown in the Infantry Training handbook (available from BDLicon if I remember......)

Im looking for the topcover mount itsself.
My PVS is complete with the adjustable mount, im just missing the the topcover mount on the rifle.
The one I have now Is on loan and must be returned so it can be stashed away in an ammo can never to see the light of day again. (damn hoarders!)

I dont have any L1A1 handbooks unfortunately.

I realise that but WHICH top cover? Which of the top covers shown in the pictures in this thread are you looking for. Better still, look at the relevant page in the user handbook and tell me which one it is. If you haven't got a user handbook for your rifle, all is lost. They're cheap too...................
