Fantastic little bag. Something like that would make a neat toolkit.

I had a later model that had the carry loop at one side. It seemed to be set up so you grab the loop and it comes with you off the male fasteners on the bulkhead. I recall getting it in the early half of the '70s...and it was old then.

That sounds like the Vietnam era type.

Yep, it's a USGI M14 magazine. Good find.

Slim pickings this weekend. Saturday was a complete bust. One yard sale, nothing there. Flea market I like and wasn't planning to go to I found these two small items today.

The first is a Civil Air Patrol badge which would be worn above the uniform pocket. This one is from 1955-1960's based on the pin back markings.

The second item is a US Army WWII M1943 Field Cap dated November 14, 1944. This was created to replace the "jeep cap" officially the Cap, Wool, Knit, M1941 which many officers hated due to its unmilitary look. Oddly enough the "jeep cap"it was to replace is still produced and issued to this day while the Field Cap went through many different styles over the years.

Up north in Tioga County this weekend. Found a Chinese SKS ammo bandoleer in mint condition for $3.00 and a 75mm recoiless rifle shell casing for $18. They called it trench art and actually thought someone drilled all those holes in it. As I was purchasing it, the guy asked what it was and I told him. He was amazed it was supposed to look like that. It has no markings that I can find which seems odd. Steel cased and I know they painted some of the data on the base but all other examples I've seen were also stamped. It needs some further cleaning, electrolysis when I get it home I think will be warranted. Also found what I believe is a Marx toy cannon made of metal.

Went to four gun shops today that did not have a single milsurp rifle with the exception of an 1873 musket. Not sure what the odds are on that but seem pretty high. The last one did have a very butchered carcano with homemade sights and in the wrong stock, sitting a half inch out of it. That was interesting. I scored two boxes of 7.65 Browning for $21 a box and he threw in a third box with 46 rounds for free. Consider that a pretty good score.

75mm recoilless shell, no markings that I can find. Has been spraypainted with possibly two different colors. Any ideas on the original lacquer finish to restore it?

Marx toy cannon. I've never seen this one before. I believe it is Marx based on the M in the circle and seems confirmed by several listings on the internet also calling it a Marx. I'm more familiar with their plastic army men.

Hard to see from here, maybe under the paint? I don't know what lacquer they used to prevent rust. Maybe Peter L would know or the ammo tech we had here...what was his name?

Slim pickings today but I didn't spend much either so that's a plus.

First item I'm not exactly sure what it's called but it's basically a cold weather deck hat for Navy personnel. May of 1944 is the contract date. $10.00.

Second item I know what it is but not positive on the time frame. I strongly suspect it is WWII due to the color and the manufacturer trademark. N S Myer Inc, New York It is a US Army officers cap badge. I'm not sure where mine is but I believe it to be the same basic design but in gold color. I think they were the blackened silver color from WWI to WWII. $1.00. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that gold color is Army and Silver color is Army Air Force and then Air Force. Still amazing how all over the place the descriptions are.

I also bought the mannequin I saw last month. The guy still had it and I offered him $10 for it and he accepted. It's not ideal, it's female but working to figure out how to disguise that. I did experiment with putting backpacks and things on it and it does work. Some bubblewrap and duct tape should take care of it. Might just leave it alone, with a shirt on it, it's not hugely noticeable. I painted green pants on it so there's that. I need to find my old olive drab t-shirts if they are still around.
