The rifle is a series 6. Some unknowledged person added the AA wings and dust cover. Like Patrick said, the Japanese used up existing stocks of part so you may see an early part way late in a series. They were and are frugal people and don't wast anything. I would not give over $200 for it. If I had it the first thing I would do is take the dust cover and AA wings off, clean the wood with furniture polish and use 0000 steel wool and oil to clean the metal, do not shoe shine the metal.

There is more wrong with this gun than just someone puting aircraft wings and dust cover on. The stock is wrong, it has a staight splice not a angle one, the front band is a type A not a Type B. Also the rear band is Type A. I still say that this is a put together gun not something the Japanese did. I have bought many guns that are correct, but with ground mums, for less than 200.00. I would pass on this gun. Detroit-1
