I have trouble with my Nr 9 with target ammunition. Generally works fine with CCI standard - might be worth a try if you havn't done so.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Given that pretty much all of the powder in a .22 Long-Rifle case is burnt in a 16" barrel, the bullet would be more-or-less coasting as it left the muzzle.

Get a few boxes of lower-velocity stuff and see how you go, while I keep digging for that drawing.
I have been using Winchester PowerPoint HV in one of my No2s for years with very good results, have taken it Rabbit hunting & Possum hunting many times & there appears to be no real difference in the noise level than a mates suppressed 10-22 using sub-sonics so the projectile must be leaving the muzzle at sub-sonic speed so no "crack" from the sonic boom, however there is the occasional (but far &few between) "crack" but i also found there was the occasional crack from subs even in my old smallbore target rifle.
