At the end of the day a "rare clip" is like everything else, it's worth what's someone willing to pay for it.

That's what separates the canny bargain hunters from the mob but if I come across a deal and the person genuinely has no idea of the price and is underselling them I will alert them to the fact and give them what I feel is a fair and equitable price that way we both get what we want and can put ourselves to sleep happily. But I have seen people rip others off and gloat about it after on-selling it at a good profit yes you will say that's just business and the seller should know their product but some people inherit milsurps and would not have a clue how to research it or know the value.
The value in something I feel is its history and not the monetary price attached to it if only people would take the time to research what gear they have got from the passing of a relative they would find out a whole lot more about their relative because I have come across allot of Vets due to various organistions I frequent and they do not talk about their memories much at all or the events and I do not ask out of respect.

Yes, I agree if a private person but dealers are "fair game" in my books; they should do their homework before selling. I only ever buy items to keep in my collection; I don't resell or trade.

Sorry F10 should have clarified private sellers dealers deserve to be ripped off unless they are one I know on a personal basis then a good haggle is expected........
Neither do I, my poor wife wants to know when it will all end, simple when I fall off the perch.......

Well i walked into the shop with $1100 cash on me, knew it was there & had rust on it but thats all i knew, i have been calling into that shop for years & they always seem to price LE Bayonets for $295 or so no matter the condition so was expecting a high price, after looking at it i was prepared to go $700, they offered it to me for the $200, i said "yeah it is a bit rusty" handed over the money & left......the perfect crime
