Hi folks - I'm new to this forum, and just wanted to say hello.
I have this same handle on the Smith & Wesson and Ruger forums, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of you guys are familiar to me, too.
I enjoy milsurps, and over the years have accumulated a few - a CMP SA Garand (VAR barrel), a raggedy Blue Sky Standard Products M1 carbine, a pretty decent 1903A3 Springfield, a No 4 SMLE, and of course an M44 Mosin Nagant (of the $89 Big 5 variety). In handguns, I have a reparked Ithaca 1911A1, a Smith 1917, and a couple of Victory Models.
Yesterday my sister gave me an Eddystone 1917, and researching that I found this fine place. I look forward to learning a lot from the obviously knowledgeable folks here.

New member intro...
G'day, gentlemen.
Been a shooter all my life, and have just acquired (or been bitten by) an interest in ex-military rifles.
Currently own 2 Martini Cadets, one I had since a teenager; started out sporterised as .222, but since converted to .22rf, due to an over-zealous load that bulged me grand-dad's Douglas match barrel. The other's a fairly original .310 that I'm currently coming to grips with, not being familiar with lead bullets & their quirks.
Other odds & ends:
*6.5x55 Swede, bought with a (beech) sporter stock, that I've since replaced with a walnut stock that I carved, chequered & polished myself.
*Me grand-dad's enfields. One is his highly customised MK3 range rifle, the other is his sporterised MLE, with, I believe, a heavy Lithgow barrel. It's this rifle in particular I'd like to get shooting again. It had an old Lyman scope fitted, which I'd rather retire, to look after it, and am exploring the possibilities of what sights may be possible.
Having a degree of trade skills, I can make or modify a fair amount. I'm considering a peep rear sight, but there's no front, for which I'd appreciate any advise as to what may fit. Alternatively, a low-powered scope, though mounts are a bit of an issue to make. Again, any suggestions, please.
Thanks for reading this. Looking forward to all & any replies.
Paul.
