Technically yes, but like almost everything else they did the work was contracted out.

THX Del,
Always thought of QHMC as an Assembler of M1 carbines, because of just making receivers.
Label confused me, seems it doesn't take much to do so any more.
Carbines........... AARRRGGGHHH.....

From CCNL 356-7 "Marked with the letter Q, Made by Quality Hardware & Machine Corp. of Chicago, Il. as a replacement part. Made under a government contract that ran from June 1944 to June 1945."
In CCNL 235-6 has a picture of a QHMC band (2 pack) label from Bill Ricca it is not marked M2 rather 2-BAND, FRONT ASSEMBLY FOR CARBINE, U.S. CAL .30, M1 AND M1A1.

The bands must be later then June 1945 as the M.W.O. ORD B28-W5 dated July 7,1945 directed replacement of front barrel bands B212600 (type 1) and 7160010 (type 2) with new front band 7160963. This was to be completed by January 1, 1946. These bands are numbered D 7161843 so they must have been later and post war.

Bruce, MWO B28-W5 dtd 7 July 45 was issued after the Ord Department had obtained sufficient quantities of the type 3 bands. Also that is a box of Slides that are numbered D7161843 not barrel bands.

Wayne your right. I just looked at the numbers and not what was printed on the package. My bad.

Just read in CCNL 101 that QHMC produced type 3 bands and cast front sights for RIA after 1945.
