Kokura Type 97 Sniper rifle
Kind of stumbled into this one but I am glad I did, all numbers matching and original except for the butt plate and the reproduction Monopod.
Now to find a nice Kokura 2.5x scope for it.

Timing is everything they say , and good timing and a little bit of luck has paid off for me. I found my Kokura scope this past weekend ( only 119 off my S/N ), complete with carrying case, lens brush, lens rag, and original Japanese instruction sheet. Now to get a new rubber eye cup and I am in business.

Be interesting to follow how you zero the scope to the rifle as the IJA had no adjustments for it on the scope so I gather its all done through the mount and the aim off if any at say the longish ranges is done by Kentucky windage I have no clue as to what range the sniper rifles were zeroed but 300 yards would be a start point I suppose any closer you may as well use the iron sights.
Good find anyway not often see them for sale.

Nice snag Walt... nice extras too. the way to zero the scope is by rotating the front lens. this requires minimal disassembly of the front lens screws so the lens loosens. followed by rotation of the lens up to 360 degrees until the ellipse gets close for point of aim and reticle meet.

Yah, zeroing the scope can be a real pill. I made up an offset attachment for a scope collimator to see where the pointer was moving before locking down. Easier than trying to clamp the rifle in place at the range whilst fiddling about with tiny screws and and spanner.

Thanks gentlemen, its going to be a while before I get around to trying to zero this one, I have a Gibbs 03a4 and a M41b I am in the process of getting on paper and there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day.
