7.5x55 Swiss Reloading Equipment
Hi,
I was wondering what equipment I need to buy before I start reloading this round. I'm using my friend's Rockchucker, powders, bullets etc.
Here's a list of what I'm thinking of buying to feed my K-31 rifle:
RCBS or Lee 2 die set FL
Lee Factory Crimp Die
Lee Case Trimming Gauge in 7.5x55 Swiss![icon](autolinker/images/link6.gif)
284 Winchester Brass to be reformed
Is there anything missing or isn't required on this list?
Regarding the case trimming, will Lee products fit a RCBS case trimmer? Also, how much trimming will be required after reforming 284 Win brass?
Lastly, does anybody know where I can get some 7.5 Swiss Brass instead?

First a Hornady 3-Die set is enough and neck sizing after the first fire forming is good for the next 3-4 times of reloading. Why do you want to make the efforts with the .284 Win cases PRVI cases are great and cheap too. I have an extra 3-Die set and some 50 or 60 PRVI Cases. If you´re interested send me a PM.

I've been using the Redding dies and 155 Noslers in PRVI brass.
I too would recommend going with the PRVI brass for simplicity. Be especially careful on seating depth, these rifles don't have much of a leade. I had half my first batch not want to chamber. All I could figure is the Nosler ogive had some variety and some went and some didn't. Another 8 thousanths of bullet seating depth fixed me up. Oh, don't go by the OAL listed in most manuals, they're too long and will jam in the leade.

I use Lee dies, FL size every time, neck size don't work to well on a K31
.
Go with the Prvi brass, it's great stuff.
Why would you muck around with .284 and still have to deal with a smaller rim size.
As has been said, watch your seating depth very carefully.
Varget is a good powder for it. I think from memory I run 41-42 grns with 168gr Nosler custom comps.
