Type II lockbar on a '45 Garand?

You folks may or may not remember a couple years ago I (in a state of ignorance) bought a CIA M1icon Garand. Luckily I was able to trade it away for an NPM M1 Carbine. In any event I've now got my hands on a 1945 Springfield M1 Garand. At a glance it appears as your run of the mill mixmaster, but I bought it for shooting not decoration so that bothers me not.

    Major parts consist of:
    SA Reciever 3.5m SN range
    SA Barrel marked I S-A-3-45
    IHC Bolt
    SA op rod
    HRA trigger group

The curious thing about this rifle is the fact that it has what appears to me as a Type II lockbar sight. From what I understand, the use of the Type III sight was well underway by SN 3.5m. The wear on the sight is consistent with the rest of the rifle, so I'm inclined to believe it's original to the gun. Thoughts on this?

What was it Scott Duff said? If it looks original leave it? I think the whole gun looks great. It has a bit of a mismatch of parts but looks like a good serviceable rifle. I'd have it...

Oh I have no intention of changing it regardless. I was just curious. It's a very serviceable rifle, the barrel's been shot within an inch of it's life but she still does about 3 MOA, so I can't complain.

To be honest, the end of the shaft isn't exactly flared, I wonder if it's been changed sometime not so far back? Hard to say though and you don't really care...gun looks good...

Maybe...I suspect the last foreign govt that had this one put parts together for serviceability. STILL...nothing wrong with it.
