Correct early RIA 1903?
Hi guys,
This RIA 1903 turned up today at a local gunshow. I believe the serial # dates it to 1905 and the barrel bears the date of "12-05". The stock cartouche is difficult to make out but appears to be " CN 1908". From the pics shown is this RIA "correct"? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & best regards,
Len

What is the story on the mid barrel band? Krag? Not sure.

Krag? Not sure.
Not Krag, the Krag band was made to sit on the barrel (the handguard did not pass under the band).
Maybe M1917?

Not sure about the rear sight ladder, either. You got a nice rifle! Thanks for sharing.

Your rifle is correct and original except for having a replacement rear sight and lower band.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input fellas. What would the correct rear sight look like? Can anyone provide a description and/or pic?
