    No.1 Mk.3* rifle info south africa

    i just bought a rifle and i can not find any info on the markings most the metal stamps are TD the wood is stamped with T D E W in brackets in a circle and there is a brass plate with SAU-CIE. KDT. any info would be great!

    TDE over the W in brackets, all in a circle is a post indepedence mark of the Indian Army.

    The SAU-CIE marks are believed to be Belgian and found on arms issued to colonial troops in Africa.

    The brass tag may also be dutch-indonesian. I'd need a picture to say either way. As stated, the roundel is a post-1951 marking applied at Ishapore in India.

    info on rifle

    the rifle was bought cased its all matching serial numbers except for the bolt even the clip is matching the bolt has a U with a diamond stamped on it. i will try to post pics at a later date any idea on its value ??
