Screws on the Bayonet Band wont screw in all the way on a Type 99

    Hello all,

Im having trouble with the screws on the Bayonet Band. They wont screw in all the way and it prevents the monopod from latching on the rifle. Also, the long screw at the end wont latch on the threads on the other side of the band. Does anyone have experiecne in fixing this? Is this common? It's a 2nd Series Nagoya Type 99 Arisakaicon.

Did you remove them? If not, sounds like you have two that are too long and the front one is too short? They need to be fitted.

Yes, I did remove them. The longer screw at the end is long enough, but it wont take to the threads on the other side of the band. Im not sure about the two smaller screws. As you saw, they stick out, but they only screw in until a certain point, then they wont screw in any more, they just keep turning. How would I fit them?

'94 Winchester carbine bands can be like that too. It's a fine screw and you have to exert HUGE pressure to get them to bite. You may need to get an extra set of hands to steady the rifle and then get working...harder. If it came out, and is the right screw in the same spot, then it'll go back in.

You would remove material from the end of the screws and get a longer front one. That's not your problem though.
Screws that keep turning means threads are stripped out, not good.

Is the front band in exactly the same position as before you took the band off? A very slight difference can keep the screw from threading in as the threads are very fine. Adjust the forward/aft position of the front band by tapping it with a rubber mallet (gently). After each whack, try the screw.
