Sporter or not SRS???
Jim,
This is the rifle that prompted my "sporter" post, either it is one or someone went to alot of work to make it look like it does. Springfield 1903 SN 1498692,,, that brings up another question. Were there serial number ranges that this was done in? I'll ask him to send pictures.

It does not appear in any of the five SRS books, the closest listing is 1498673 a NM sales rifle on 9-28-39.
Close means nothing but hope this helps, how about pictures?

Randy, I agree with Tom. The highest sn for a NRA Sporter in my SRS info is number 1407349.

more likely a NMA1 as its in a group, of 2 pages of them in that range.
