M28 Front Sight Question
My M28 had its front sight replaced. I am looking to replace with a period correct front sight blade. When I search for M28 front sight it seems like I usually get a version (screw adjustable version) that wouldn't be correct.
Can someone tell me what Finn Mosin sights would be correct for this gun.
Thanks,
Dale

Thanks Aragorn. I saw that but wasn't sure.

You don't show a side view so it's hard to tell if that would work or not, it's just what comes up. They also sell the dove tail sights but they are harder to find and you may have to wait on them.

I'll have to dig out my book and see what it says about the front sight. I've seen that type on Finn rifles but that particular installation does not look right. Too messy if you get what I'm saying. Sight isn't set all the way back against the barrel ridge and it has excess soldier never removed in the front of it. It just doesn't look like something an arsenal would do. You may want to replace the entire thing.

Checked the book. That sight base is correct for a M27 and a M28 rifle. If it is a M28-30 it should have the upgraded type with the screws in the sides.
The blade is incorrect for any which you knew. it should look like the blade in the screw type but with a dovetail. To replace, you would remove the screw in the front to remove the base and then replace the blade. The screw is also supposed to be helping secure the sight to the barrel so not sure if solder belongs on it or not.

What you could do is file the existing sight into the correct shape. Just be careful to not remove any off the top at the rear.

Aragorn,
In the 7.62x54R website they show this as a sight configuration for an M28. Picture not great, but seems to match my gun. I'll see when the new sight blade I bought on EBay is delivered from Finland if it's correct for my gun.
