Looking for a front sight block for a no4

that has the dovetail that is parallel to bore. Would this be a block off one of the 22LR conversions? I want to fit a tunnel sight for target shooting, I have a Matchmaker AJP tunnel and rings but no way to attach it.

Parallel to the bore? Are you sure? Never seen one with a fore-to aft dovetail. Or do you mean 'at 90 degrees to, across the bore' These were the only ones fitted to our No4's and dual dovetail No8 rifles.

Most of the comp No4's had a standard foresight block band that had been machined lower with an oversize dovetail to fit the P-H tunnel foresight

He is talking about one like this

which are converted from the wartime utility solid blocks. I've got a couple here (whenever I see one I buy it) but find you usually have to do some selective assembly to get a combination that fits. I've not seen a longitudinal dovetail one - not on .303s at any rate, though plenty of TR barrels had them

No this is exactly what Im after, ie the left one as I have the fore sight shown above by the look of it (AJP matchmaker?). Sadly I dont have a milling machine to do this myself or I would.

I guess I should have said it differently....but its not inline, tangental and parallel maybe.

But I BET that someone near to you either HAS a milling machine and a dovetail cutter or alternatively, a half decent bench fitter would have that cut down and hand filed out in 15 mins. Put an ad in your locak paper for a model engineers help

Cost Peter, go near any machine shop and bye bye $100, hence its probably cheaper just to buy one if I know what Im looking for if its an already made part. And yes, Im seriously considering filing one myself.

Model or hobby engineer locally. I use one locally to make No32 telescope parts with ultra fine threads. Try that advert and see how helpful AND good they can be
