    1894 Swede Carbine Help

    Hey all,

Just got a 1916 Carl Gustav Carbine and I want to get this stock off to see if there is rust. How the heck do you get that big old piece of steel out from under that front barrel band? Please help cause I am stumped.

    Thanks,

If it's what I'm thinking it is, you need to take out the cleaning rod first if you haven't done so. Then push the "spring" in toward the barrel right next to the band. After you push it in, you slide the band forward and off the stock. The "sping" doesn't need to come out to get the stock off.

Sometimes the band is very tight and you need to work a screwdriver in between the band and the "spring". Do this very carefully or you can mar the metal.

Nevermind, that is for the 1896. I can't locate my disassembly book at the moment.

I believe you remove it by a similar process as above. There is a recess at the front of the bayonet lug. Push that in and the nose cap comes off. Then remove the two screws and slide the lug out from under the middle band. If it is the second type, push in where the round hole is after removing the single screw and slide forward.
