So if I remember right from when I got my first East German helmet, there are three distinct types, not counting the really rare ones which includes the one that may or may not exist, the WWII version.
The first version is the one with the WWII style leather liner with three exposed rivets on the outside. Then this one which is either the 2nd or 3rd type. I don't know which and I don't know what the difference is between the two, they look the same to me.

I figured it out. This helmet is a M56/76 which makes no sense as it is a 75. Makes it the third type. No rivets. The second type still has the rivets but it also has the new liner system which is unchanged into the 56/76 I'm thinking these names were created by someone that doesn't know a lot about these helmets.

I spent two years looking for a jeep shovel not knowing I had one in my shed last year, found a second one a few weeks after that and a third today. Couldn't pass it up for $3.00. Got a Korean made folding shovel and an early Vietnam ammo pouch along with the little medical bag I found yesterday. Didn't pay more than $3.00 for any of them so it was a cheap weekend.

You surely excel in this sort of thing. The kit you come up with, and what you score it for impresses the likes of me, at least.
