    Carcano TS Bayonet

One of those I never really figured I'd get an example of and have been passing up TS carbines because of it. Got one off ebay the other night for what I thought was reasonable. Still one of the more expensive prices I've paid at $164.00. First I've seen that went for less than $200 and only the second one in well over a year. Came with what appears to be a legit frog although it is in near new condition which seems suspicious. It's not all that unlike some other leather goods I have from Italyicon. It does have some pitting but not as bad as I expected from the ebay photos.

Now to find a TS carbine for about the same price.

Nice find at a good price. I picked up a TS carbine (1898) that needs furniture. Didn't realize how hard upper handguard are to find! I didn't want to spend the money on the bayonet so I figured I would configure it to the 91/24 (91/28) set up. But, the hunt is part of the fun. Good luck!

I found one in a junk store in Cheyenne Wy. and was able to get it for $15. It has no scabbard and is rough, to say the least. I also have a complete 91TS dated 1917 but, the front sling swivel, which I assume is soldered to the nose cap, is missing. (If someone has a complete nose cap, please let me know)
I wish my bayonet was in better condition like yours.
Those frogs are old stock but, original.

There are a couple of variations of nose caps for the TS with original bayonet. The earlier ones do not have a sling swivel as the sling attachment is on the side of the rifle. The later ones seem to have retained the side attachment but also included a swivel on the base of the nose cap. Your rifle is probably correct without.

I thought so too but, there is no side swivel present nor has there ever been one and, you can see the spot where the swivel might have been soldered to the nose cap.

Also, the only rear swivel on mine is the bottom mounted one.
The ones that I have seen with a front side swivel also had a rear side swivel.
I did see one with both side and bottom swivels but, never one with side swivel on the front and a bottom swivel on the rear (or, vice versa).

I know a reputable dealer in the States selling the 1891 Carcano TS with the sideways bayonet lug at the moment for 350$ (reason I know is because I have debated on importing it to Canadaicon but the cost is pretty prohibitive). PM me if you want to know the details of the store.

No, way to high. Very good ones only worth $250 in the states. Average anywhere from $150-$250.

Carcanos don't sell well in my area at all. I got pretty nice 38's for about $150 each, one 6.5, the other 7.35 SA marked. Passed on a TS last fall because I never figured I'd get the bayonet, I think it was around $180. Of course now that I'm looking for one, the prices will suddenly skyrocket. Even at the auction from hell for a Carcano of any type to get $150, it's a good day for the Carcano.

Those frogs are available in quantity these days. I assume they were released from Military storage as obsolete? They are nearly all in unused condition as well!
