A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Hello everyone,
Here is a brief introduction of myself. I am a toolmaker by trade (Now in 3D mold design)
After arriving in B.C. from South Africa in 1976, I was immediately drawn to the outdoors here and the opportunity to spend a lot of quality time hunting and fishing. I did my CORE course in 1977 and hunted somewhat unsuccessfully for 3 years after that and building 2 hunting rifles ( 1 around a K98icon Mauser action and 1 using a Falling Block Works action). Following this I took up fishing and have been busy with that until recently. I am now back hunting after completing another hunting rifle using a Mauser action chambered in 7 x 57 Mauser. I love building rifles as it gives me a sense of achievement.
    Cheers.

New to 5.56, 7X57, and .30-06 and this site

I was born in '47. In 1960 Dad, through NRA/CMPicon, bought a '03-A3, a unfired Remington Rand 1911 A1, and a mid 40's Lend Lease Mossburg 42 (a) that made it back across the pond. He sold the other guns, but I still have the Mossburg; it started me shooting. In 2011 I got a Stag Arms Model 8 AR-15, both 5.56 NATO and .22 LR, my first centerfire rifle. In 2012 I picked up a Winchester 250 .22 lever gun and a 1943 Argentineicon 7X57 Mauser sporterized. Presently I'm awaiting a CMP Springfield Garrand M1icon. I'm gonna reload all these.

My first ??? What slip on recoil reducer do you recommend for the M1 and the Mauser? Just one of many ??? that I know you people will help me with.

Shooting is fun...and I like fun!

    Alan

6.5 japanese Loads for Vhit powders?

Col Marshall here form Nothern Englandicon

Been shooting all my life but at present I'm a shooting Sako 579 in 308W. But I also have a No5 Mk1 ( 7/46) which is fun to fire but not that accurate, even with some 1938 mkVII ball I found in a shop In the Isle of Skye, along with some old 'Empire 180gn SP 303).

I'm just about to collect an Arisakaicon Type 38 carbine and need some load Advice. I can find loads for Hodgdon powders, but I have a shelf full of Vhit powders and no Data for 6.5 Jananese. Anyone out there got any loads for Vhit in this calibre? Ta

    Hello,

As a 15 year old in Dundalk, Ireland, in the early 1960s, I was a member of the reserves (FCA in gaelic), and was the youngest member of the 8th Battalion shooting team (One was supposed to be 17 but we lied about our age). We fired thousands of rounds in practice and competition (hearing is still good despite no hearing protection) from Lee Enfield No. 4s. We used to zero at 100 yards, 4 inches high, and had an armorer move and change foresights as necessary. (I managed to win the 2nd Brigade individual shoot in 1966, and our team had earlier missed winning the All Army in the Curragh Camp, Kildare, by one point). When I emigrated to the US in 1967 I bought a No. 4 (T), complete with box and matching scope, and a No. 5. I also bought a 1915 Artillery Luger for $300 (and other "toys") but that's another forum! I fired them a few times, then stored them when drafted into the US Army in 1968. I retired in 1992, then worked for the Department of Defense until 2009. Recently my brothers and a few friends returned to private shooting ranges to fire various rifles and pistols, including our military surplus "toys."
A few days ago I stumbled on this site and was delighted to find a membership with much more knowledge about Lee Enfields than I. Looking forward to exploiting this knowledge base to find out more about my favorite rifles! John D.

    New on board

New member here. twh731 on the forum. I have been a recreational shooter for over 40 years a reloader for over 30 years and started collecting milsurp for the past 7 years. I find it interesting that the battle rifles of yesterday are extremely capable arms for multi-use. The precision of mass produced equipment in times of diminishing natural resources was an accomplishment of phenominal proportions. Some of them may look archaic and ugly but their utilitarian purpose was acheived nontheless. I really enjoy shooting them and haven't found the need to modify what I have except for a good cleaning and trigger polish. I'm not much of a forum poster, more of a lurker, seeking specific information that I need at the time. Sorry if I don't contribute much but want you all to know that I appreciate the more informed people who do, as it is very easy to get yourself into trouble sometimes with projects that turn out to be more involved than intended. Thanks for these forums. Tom
