    1949 Colt 1911 in .38 Super

My Dad gave me his Colt 1911 style, but it is chambered for .38 Super. I still have the box and the owner's manual.

Shoots sweet, holds 9 in the mag. Good .38 Super ammo is a pain in the rear to find, and when found, is never affordable.

I surveyed the serial number and it came back as built in 1949.
Anyone know much about this puppy?

What do you want to know?

If you like the caliber (its more or less ".357 SIG" but old, same concept), then you've got something to hang on to! Hard to find in unaltered condition, most seem to have wandered a bit south of the US.
