    M28 Mosin Nagant

Hello, I am a new member Ernie W. What I am looking for is what would be the approx. value
of an M28 Finn Mosin Nagant?? The bore is very rough, the stock is in fairly rough shape, would it be alright to have it restored or would that decrease any value it may have?

Pictures? Even if the stock is rough, it would be better left alone than refinished most of the time. Depending on condition, $250-350.

Since my last post I have I figured out the Finn M28 that I have has a smaller bore than a Russion Mosin Nagant has. Does anyone know of any available millsurp ammo that has the correct diameter bullets for the Finn rifles? My bore has a .308 groove diameter, before I knew this I fired 2 rounds of Sellior & Bellot ammo and there was primer damage from very high pressure, the bullets measured .314 dia., Hopefully I did no damage to the Rifle. It has a shiny bore now. Are you guys with the Finn rifles loading your own Ammo? Like I said before I am new at this and I will greatly appreciate any help!!

I'm not an MN expert but do reload extensively. If your groove diameter is .308" then I would match that with .308" bullets. AFAIK, no one makes 7.62x54R ammo with .308" bullets. .311" is the norm. I understand the Finns abandoned the .308" bore with later rifles like the M39. I'd reload for your rifle. AIM has the cheapest 7.62x54R ammo around; $13.50/20 which is as cheap as unprimed cases. I'm sure it is smaller than .314". The AIM ammo is at Prvi Partizan PPU 7.62x54R 150grn SP 20rd Box

If you are already set up to reload, you just need dies. If you are not a reloader, you have to decide if it is worth the time, money & effort to shoot the rifle.

Thanks Kirk, I still have an old loading press and scales from years ago so I am going to pick up some dies and see what this old M28 can do on the range. Thank you for your help.
