    replacement firing pin...

Hello im new to the board I recently purchased an Enfeild No4 Mark1

First day out with the new rifle and the firing pin broke right at the base of the shaft distal to the firing pin.

I have been searching for a replacement with no luck so far

If any one has some good recommendations for parts in USAicon please let me know it would be greatly appreciated

    Best regards,

Why don't you place an add in the WTB on this forum? Someone will have more than their share and sell you one...

Could the pin have been broken when you got the rifle? There's a thread here for closeup photos of broken parts if you feel inclined to take some.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

Much changes, much remains the same.

That would be a good addition! It's a part not yet covered.

    Thanks for the plug, Surpmil.

Can I suggest that in my limited experience with these things, you send the whole bolt away to a specialist such as BDLicon in SC to have a new striker fitted. That's because fitting a striker isn't just a case of unscrewing one and screwing in another........Oh no! It is the part that holds the lot together and every adjustment within the bolt (except bolt head overturn) is controlled by the striker. There are about 6 separate functions that have to be set-up, such as lift, protrusion, striker point radius - and others.

Get the striker replaced by a specialist

No.4 strikers are getting very hard to find. I've got tons of SMLE strikers, (who needs a sealed box full?), but just a half dozen or so No.4 ones and I was lucky to find them.

Thank you all for the replies, I will take some pics and get them up soon.

With regards to the actual work, the plan is to take said rifle to ammo-brothers here in town and have their smith go through it.

I was going to have the rifle inspected first but just couldnt wait and thought ah a few rounds wont hurt.... heh lesson learned

In that case, might I respectfully suggest that you give them a copy of an article I wrote a couple of years ago. It details all that I've mentioned. I'm sure that they'll appreciate it even if they've done it a few times before
