    303 Brit ammo identity?

Had afternoon off so I was digging in the cobwebs of the ammo locker ( found a case of Santa Barbara 308 ammo last time I looked. Does anyone know if it's any good, been 10-15 yrs since I got it so I don't remmember. Anyway, I found a few hundred rounds of 303 ammo. Boxes say it was imported by the CAINA Co.It's boxer primed.Headstamp 1942, DZ orDN with N on its side.Could someone tell me about it. I was always careful back then to never buy corrosive ammo. I shot some (there are empty cases in the box) and didn't do a corrosive type cleaning of my Enfield and it hasn't turned orange after 15 years, I think I used Hoppe's back then to clean.

If the hs is 1943 DI Z it is Canadianicon made MkVIIz ball noncorrosive, Boxer primed ,nitrocellulose powder, made by Defence Industries a Crown corporation managed by CIL 1940-45. Very good ammo.

Here is another possibility. If the D is followed by a vertical slash rather than I and then the Z or sideways N (I can't tell which it is) then it is Indian; made by the Indian Government Ammunition Factory, Calcutta.
Don't know if corrosive but would treat it as such.
I didn't think the DI Canadianicon made would have the N on it.
P.S. I've heard that Hoppes does a good job cleaning corrosive; no personal experience.

Indian made .303" would be Berdan not Boxer primed.

Questiion on 303. New member. Picked up a box of 303 at a gun show Sat. Blue box marked Interarms, Alexandria Va. Top stamped with red ink 303 target ammo. head stamp reads F N 67. (FN 1967) Three questions.
    1. Is it corrosive? (I assume it is.)
    2. Is it Berdan primes? (I assume it is.)
3 Is it typically good ammo?

Seller only had one box or I would have grabbed more.
    Thanks, Tweed.

I am trying to identify some .303 surplus ammo also. I puchased about 15 years ago, and its been sitting in my gun safe unshot. For the life of m, I don't remember what the origin is. Its a silver bullet, brass cased, with .361 on the headstamp, and nothing more. I've tried all the usual references for this ammo, including a Google search with no luck. I will post a pic later on, but any help identifying it would be appreciated.

I'd bet it's Iraqi, and you're reading the headstamp upside-down. It is probably Arabic for 1940. Look carefully, there should be a triangle ans "squiggle" opposite the 1940.
