Need help - british l42 .308 sniper w/ wood case, original spotter scope, etc

    Hi all,

I am hoping the SniperForums community can help me out.

Financial times have come upon me and with GREAT regret, I have to let this l42 go.

Would the community help me out in valuing this thing?

It includes, original spotters scope with leather sheath. The scope is in fully functional excellent condition and has clear glass. Also includes chamber brush, tool kit with complete tools, patches, screens etc, oil vial, etc. Includes lens cleaning kit with everything.

This is an all numbers matching set up. The scope also includes original leather lens caps.

My wife has been diagnosed with something that is going to put us on long road of financial concern.

    Thanks to all that help.

My hopes is to find a home with a collector for this thing at a fair price.

    Nice set up!

I'll give you $5k for it.

Seriously though, my suggestion is to put it on Gun Broker and let the bidders tell you what current market value is.

Sorry to hear about your wife.Hope she gets well soon.

I think a miminum price on the L42 is $7500.00.I would not sell for less.
I haven't seen one for sale in over a year.

    Thank you everyone.

I am reeling letting it go. I never want to be in the position of letting something that I will never likely have a chance at again go. I know the are more than un-common.

Last year I let a USGI ordered Winchester model 70 Bull that was still in the wood crate in cosmolineicon go. I have no excuse for letting that one go.

When listing, what are the photos or important factors to point out. I want to list with all questions answered.

Post a LOT of CLEAR, SHARP, close up and wide view shots. Show every stamp, word, nick and bruise. For everything! The chest, the scope box, the scope, the rifle, the mount, the accessories. Everything. It amazes me that folks attempt to get top dollar with 5 out of focus cell phone pictures. And then fail to mention what factory made the rifle. Argh! That will get you top dollar at auction.

Sorry about your wife, best wishes to she and you.

When I list it, I will post over 100 photos of every angle with my Nikon camera.

I will also post the link here if that is allowed for those interested in seeing what the peoples appraisal ends up.

Thanks for the wishes with my wife. Tough roads ahead.

I was referred this forum from a gentleman a sniperforums.com. I have many military items, firearms and have collected many military vehicles.

This will be a community I relate to often.

    Great forum.
