Does anyone know what an EX1/2 is?

I note also that the cocking handle is not a standard Ex1/Ex2 pattern. Does it have a forward assist feature? or is it something else? a replacement perhaps, as the fibre ones seem a little delicate.

A week or two ago I came into possession of a bunch more EX1 parts that had been hiding out at my favorite surplus yard. In one bag was about 35 charging handles. About 33 were the phonelic knob, with some chipped and a few broken off, but there were two of them that had what seemed like an aluminum knob. Perhaps the CF bought parts from FN later to keep supporting these rifles, and that was what FN was making by then.
