I am the 2nd owner of a SA M1icon rifle, and the original owner saved all the DCM paperwork, sales receipts, and original FM 23-5 & TM9-1275 manuals. All the data shows he received the rifle in 1986.

The "DD FORM 1348-1A" "1 MAR 74" seems to have a very un-military date format. The Document Date is "86106". The Packed date is "86111". The ship date is "86113". The owner's receipts from Amherst Arms for M1 parts & accessories are dated 7-86.

Since the M1 parts were purchased in 7-86, the DCM dates must be 1-6-86, 1-11-86, & 1-13-86 (January rather than Oct. & Nov.). Why would he buy parts before receiving the rifle?

Has anyone else encountered this date format?? The one part of the form that is no mystery is the price: $94.30....for a M1 rifle! WOW!
