    photos of CAR-15 butt stock

I found some additional photos of the CAR-15 butt stock that I restored back in 2013, The stock came from the Rock Island salvage yard (along with some nice green butt stocks) long time ago.

I did install the stock on a Colt SP1 semi auto manufactured in 1974. Barrel has a welded extension. I made the triangular handguards. I understand the army considered this type of sliding stock too complicated.

One of these little guns is in the Ft Lewis museum. When I was there with my last rifle platoon doing a tour aside from duty the curator tried to tell us a made in Japanicon non gun was the scarce and rare gun in the museum...while I pointed this little gem out to my guys. Seldom seen little SMGs.

Unfortunately, I must have missed that particular rifle when I toured the museum, although I've got a picture of myself manning the twin .50 in the flexible mount. I was mainly there to get photos and measurements for a buddy restoring a M15 Combination Gun Motor carriage he had retrieved from an old logger in the Okanogan valley who had used it as a skidder.

It was up way over on a open wall like a trophy and the M60 was down below it. They could both be gone now, that was back in '90/'91...
