No.4 Mk.1* Sniper at last....
Well, that's the way it was described to me anyway! Really is more likely a purpose made target rifle. Interesting PH5C sight....has a screw in glass optic a different butt shape, a front sight protector and a target sling (web but a bit wider than issue and has leather ends). It is marked LB 1945 and has not been FTR'd....but the bolt, while marked LB, is not serialed. S/N on butt strap is also not a LB number. All parts are marked with C and broad arrow and LB. What is it?
PS - I will add images when someone tells me how. I tried but why are these boards not all the same on inserting images!!! Da%*#@d things.
If at first you don't.....well, here goes again..
I pulled the LB target rifle down today and cleaned the dust. Barrel is marked LB and 44 and appears to be park'd as it is grey. Receiver is blued and also marked LB. The serial number appears on close inspection to have been 8XL16XX which would also correspond to the year...1945. Bolt cocking piece and body have three LB markings but there is and has never been a serial number in the usual place. Even the trigger guard and the wood are stamped LB. Condition is lovely with little wear. Still no pics....why does every forum have to be different? Like going to the debit machine and no two are alike!
