Over the years I have amassed a few odd gun parts. One of them is a carbine front band assembly. This is one that does not have the bayonet lug. Are these rare or common? It is complete with sling swivel and looks unused.
Thanks

You don't tell us enough to make any real comment of value. Which type is it? 1 or 2? Original or repro?
Original Type I and II bands without the bayo lug extension are somewhat valuable, but fakes and cut-down Type IIIs are rampant.
I do not know a lot about carbines so cannot tell you whether its a Type I or Type II. It is not a repro. I received it with a bunch of M1 Rifle parts from an army armorer. I just dug it out and cannot find any mfg marks. After looking it over I believe that it is used and not new.
Thanks for the replies
Pictures are worth a thousand words. BTW The type 1 band is very narrow and has a stamped swivel on the side. The type 2 is wide and has a welded wire swivel on the side.
Unfortunately when I asked the original question I was working from memory-which was faulty. I have since dug it out and find that I was wrong in two areas. First the sling swivel is missing and secondly the band is used not new. The band is narrower than the bayonet lug equipped on my carbine but I do not know what “narrow “is. Secondly it does not have the hole for accommodating the band spring as does the barrel band on my bayonet lug equipped carbine. I apologize for my first description.
On the old JOUSTER board I have posted pictures. On this board I have not been successful. The band that I have is a two piece assembly with the screw on the left side. The piece that mounts on to the barrel is has the integral hand guard flange. This is welded (?) to the band that goes around the stock. This band measures 3/8 inch in width. On the left slide are the screw and the bushing for the sling swivel.
It is not for sale, I am just seeking knowledge to satisfy my curiosity.
Thanks for your input.
That is a type 1 band.
