Help Identifying K98 w. markings I've never seen

Hey everyone,

New member here- Just bought my own first rifle- got myself a K98

I noticed my serial number was really really low, so I wanted to know where this gun game from, what kind of action it may have seen. I've done as much research as I could, and I have never seen or heard of these marks. Perhaps someone here could help me. There is no marks at all, other than the serial numbers, and one small stamp on the side, and a really small one on the top. On top, it is like a weird shaped 8 on the top of the receiver, with no other marks. On the side, next to the serial number, there is a weird stamp w/ 3 pointed leaves.

The stock is not original, I know, but I kinda like it, its a lot lighter. I was just curious also how much a replacement stock would be, if I wanted to make it a complete gun again one of these days, its a pain not having the pin-disassemble hole in the stock. I paid around 300 for this, I know it may have been a little bit high, but I really liked it, and I'm impulsive.

i'd say the stock is original. it looks like a bubba'd post war rifle. i don't know where it came from, but it's not German

I'm not certain, but isn't the stock from a Spanish M43 rifle? (sported)

Stocks are frequently listed on the auction sites in the vicinity of $50 though those may mostly be from RC rifles. If you want an original, it'll cost more. Considering it won't be an "original" rifle, I'd think an RC would do but that's just my opinion. But then, I'm about to pay $100 for an original stock for my CXC m1924 rifle. It'll be mismatched in bolt and stock so whether it's justified is debatable. But I'm agunna do it.

you are correct. the sight ears on the rifle say that's what it is too

The sling attachment area on the butt looks exactly like my Spanish FR-8 which originally may have been a '43 before the Spanish Gov't stuck all the rest of the stuff on it.

Looks like a nice $150.00 rifle. Scrubbed receiver and cut-down stock. You need to hit a large gunshow with a gun-wise buddy. Good luck.
