What's a "1906" sight?
There was no 1906 model sight on the Krag. There were Model 1901 and '02 sights, but no '06. There is a Model 1905 sight for the '03 Springfield.
I think I recall reading that there were a few 1905 model sights made for Krags too. Seems like that was in US Martial Arms Collector, some research he'd found.
My error. I meant Krag 1896 rear sight. I think one of the three types is more difficult to find. I have an 1896 type "C" I will have to check with the gunsmith for the type he has....
I'm not sure what that sight's worth as I'm really new to these rifles but I happen to have an 1899 carbine without the rear sight. Might be they still used the 1896's on them. If you find out what it's worth from someone reliable and would consider selling it, I'd be interested.
You would need a sight with "Cs" stamped on it for a carbine. I suspect that it could be costly if you could find one. I do not know what 1896 non C sights are being sold for. Let me check into it.
My sight has a small problem in that some idiot oversized the attachment screw holes. It should be fixable. Maybe some forum member can chime in here.

This thread just left me confused.
A.F. Medic,
Thanks for the useful insight. Saw one guy had an 1896 carbine sight up on gunbroker that was really clean but he wants over $500 for it. Seems way out of line to me but again, I have no first-hand knowledge. At this point, I'd settle for a standard sight of either distance markings just to be able to use the rifle. Can always pick up a carbine sight over time.
