Round jam

Hello all
I just got my m1 and took it out yesterday for the first time, but the problem I'm having is the second to last round keeps getting cocked to the side and getting stuck just under the barrel.

I went thru 5 clips and they all did the same thing on the second to last round.

I'm using winchetser rounds and I'm making sure the rounds are pushed all the way to the back of the clip and are even.

Could it be the brand of ammo or the clips I'm using
The back of the clips have AEC 3 stamped in them not sure if that would help or not

Agressive Engineering Corp, Anaheim California. I don't think it's the clips. They're the standard for many shooters. Did you start the top round left or right? I'm not sure that would matter. I think it was designed to start top on the right. Someone else will be along shortly any way...

I loaded them from left to right, I'll give the right to left load a try,

Weak spring or something sticking? Sounds like there isn't enough pressure keeping the follower snug under the last round. As a result it's flopping around and not being kept aligned with the follower slide.

Clips are generally loaded so that the top round sits to the right to make it easier to push them home while the blade of your hand guards against premature bolt closure. However, it's worth noting that the M1 receiver does not care which way the rounds are loaded.

My Garand won't chamber a first round stacked on the left for some reason. Stack it high right and it is slicker than grease.

I haven't pulled it apart yet, but Feeling it and visualy it's feel tight.
Could it just need more rounds to break it in? Per say

To remedy this issue with my rifle. I replaced to operating spring. trigger guard and follower. My operating spring was to short it was less than 19 1/2", the trigger guard had worn out trunnions and lastly the follower was flopping around. Other problems that could cause the issue are a bad follower arm and a bad op rod. I would try a new follower first and check it for function, Proper clean and lube job is the first order of business. If it slides grease it. ever thing else use oil.

I took it out again yesterday and with a lower grain round and it didn't jam up as much, but I'll go thru it and clean it ane re grese and oil it to see if that helps

You need to change the Op Rod srping with one from Orion 7, do a complete tear down ,clean and properly grease the rifle.
Since it is jambing with less rds in the enbloc, I would be its the Op Rod spring
Then fire the rifle and report back. Also should be using M2Ball or equivilant or adjustable gas screw
Should not make any difference which way the rounds are loaded

I let my Over All Length get a touch long and this problem manifested itself quickly. I seated the bullets just a bit more in the cases and the problem went away. Regular HXP M2 Ball would function fine. So this made me look at my ammo.
