Has anyone on here EVER seen a S'G' with this low of a serial number? I just bought this carbine, and one of the buying points was - I have never seen a S'G' this low in the block. That would make this one number 326, so it probably had to be assigned later in its build from a destroyed IP receiver. That is what my assumption is. Give me your views. With this one, it leaves 1 more for my Collection, the ever elusive IP.
By Far the earliest S'G' I've seen. I have a 1,823,135 that came with a few IP parts in it.
You know we'll need more to look at.......

Yep, John, it looks like very few reported. That makes it kind of special. If it only said Irwin Pedersen above the number.......LOL.
I've been saving information on S'G' auctions and listings over the past couple years - checked my computers and found nothing even close to that number. I've got #1829XXX with lots of IP parts, but says S'G' on the receiver. Hope you find that missing carbine soon! - Bob
There is a new listing on Gunbroker for an IP. I haven't checked it closely since I spent my funds for this year. Who knows, John
That one looks pretty good on the surface and it will always be worth the sum of it's parts. With the P on the front of the pistol grip however, I would need more detailed photos of specific wear patterns to include where the recoil plate mates to the receiver, hammer strike on trigger housing, type 1 barrel band wear to wood and metal, and better photos of the front sight. The seller should provide these additional photos if he expects to get the "big bucks" an original IP should bring.Quote:

At first glance, I 'm not so sure about the milling/markings on the Mag catch.

To my not so seasoned eye, the mag catch looks weak and the fatboy looks weak.
It's a good looking rifle though.
I mean, I was speaking of the GB rifle.
