CMP Lead Garand picked up today
Took a ride with a buddy out to the CMP north store this morning (70 miles), and lo and behold, they had just received fifty service grades, twenty five HRAs and twenty five SAs. I was first in the door and grabbed the first two nice SAs I saw (looking for WW2 production), went to the counter and started checking through them. Well, they were both beautiful, a 2.3 mil, and a 984,000 range. After closer inspection, the latter was a LEAD 12/65 rebuild with all SA parts, annealed receiver, and an 8/65 SA barrel that had a MW 1+ and TE of 2+. The stock had the top part of the LEAD orange triangle still visible on the heel, the metal has fantstic light green park, so I had to have it. After my buddy selected his service grade (also SA WW2 production), we headed to a friends house only a few miles away for a test ride. A quick bore clean up and WOW! What a great shooter this rifle is! Thank goodness it is in the sixties today and the rain held up just enough, cuz eight en blocs later I can't stop smiling! What a day! Good thing they still had alot of greek ammo, i'm gonna need more....
